David Pace on the high stakes of history teaching and learning

04-26-2016 01:20:38 PM

How can historians use the scholarship of teaching and learning to bridge the gap between what historians do and what students learn? David Pace (Indiana Univ. Bloomington), one of the historians who has pioneered research into history teaching and learning in the United States, talks about the potential this work has to positively impact students' lives and help make the benefits of college more accessible to students who need them the most, as well as how it can help early-career faculty thrive in their first years on the job. This interview was conducted in January 2016. The AHA thanks the Teagle Foundation for its support of work on integrating the scholarship of teaching and learning into history graduate education.
