    Hi, I am doing some research on the American Civil War.  I have to write an historiography essay for a class.  I do know there is a historical debate about the causes of the war.  I am focusing on my essay on this debate.  Can anyone help me to some valuable resources of historians who wrote about the causes I could use?  Thanks!

    Hi, 

    Down and dirty, the Civil War was seen as both a struggle for state rights and slavery; the latter being the catalyst for the former essentially.
