Lissette Acosta Corniel is assistant professor of Latin American Studies in the Department of Race and Ethnic Studies at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, CUNY. Her research focuses on gender, patriarchy, slavery, and resistance in early colonial Santo Domingo.
