Bio

fter a successful thirty+ year career in compensation and benefits, I have embarked on a substantial career change.  I earned my Ph.D. in History in 2016 from from Northern Illinois University and from 2015-2017 served as a History Instructor (part-time) at Wheaton College and at Joliet Junior College. Then in the Fall of 2017 I received an appointment as Assistant (now Associate) Professor of History at Emmanuel College (now Emmanuel University) in Franklin Springs, GA. I have now taught at EU for over six years. In the classroom I employ a wide variety of interactive instructional techniques to engage student learning about significant historical questions so that they are better able to understand today's societal challenges as well as to integrate historical study into their own worldview. History remains as relevant as ever.

My dissertation project examines the operations of the civilian administration of the War Department in early modern France during the reign of Louis XIV. Specifically, it analyzes the documents that represent a wide variety of information types which circulated within the War Department’s administrative networks to illustrate that efforts to manage the diverse logistical needs of French armies resulted in growing administrative power which reflected a transformation to administrative governance in France.
