As you plan for your fall courses, I wanted to share a high-impact teaching opportunity that professors have called "the most transformative assignment ever" – the Wikipedia assignment.
With the Wikipedia assignment, students develop their research, writing, and media literacy skills while making real-world, hands-on impact on knowledge equity. AHA partner organization Wiki Education helps faculty across the U.S. and Canada incorporate the Wikipedia assignment into their courses by providing custom syllabi, comprehensive student training modules, digital tools to track student work, subject-specific materials, and staff support – all free of charge.
Wiki Education and the Mellon Foundation have teamed up to launch the largest social-justice initiative in the humanities on Wikipedia – we encourage you to save your spot to teach with Wikipedia soon! To apply, visit dashboard.wikiedu.org and follow the prompts to create your Wikipedia account, take our self-paced instructor orientation, and create your course page.
Interested in hearing directly from a history professor who teaches with Wikipedia? Register now for our upcoming webinar "Teaching Humanities with Wikipedia" on Monday, July 29 at 1 pm PDT / 4 pm EDT.
