Secondary social studies teachers are invited to participate in a mixed-methods dissertation study (IRB #: STUDY00007321) being conducted by Becca Rosen (Ph.D. candidate) under the supervision of Dr. Kevin Meuwissen from the University of Rochester - Warner School of Education. This study seeks to explore how social studies teachers make decisions about teaching difficult historical content and how emotions interact with such decisions.

This study includes an initial quantitative phase and a follow-up qualitative phase. If you volunteer to participate in the quantitative phase, you will be asked to complete an online, anonymous survey that takes about 15 minutes to complete. If you volunteer to participate in the qualitative phase, you will be asked to participate in two one-hour individual interviews via Zoom and send the researcher a recording of you teaching one classroom lesson. Volunteering to be considered for the qualitative phase does not guarantee participation in this phase.
