Teaching and Learning History

Why can't learning about history be as much fan as a ticket to 'Hamilton'?

I'm a journalist who tries to turn history into news and have written several books ("A History of NY in 101 Objects," A History of NY in 27 Buildings") to remind readers of all ages that, as Orwell said, who determines the past determines the future and that teaching and learning about history can be provocative and fun. I loved it as a student myself. How can we help get this message across, that history is not a dry, static subject but is about people and story-telling and narrative and can catalyze an interactive exploration of the past that explains who and where we are today?
