Those of you already using Omeka (Classic) in classroom settings may be interested in the release of Omeka S. Created with funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Omeka S is a web publishing system designed for institutions interested in connecting digital cultural heritage collections with other resources online.

It comes with multiple vocabularies (beyond Dublin Core), and the capability to share resources as Linked Open Data. It allows you to share resources between sites, so you can create a pool of item resources and use them for multiple courses.
