Bio

Mark D. Bowles is the founder of HistoryFeed.org, and is Professor of History at American Military University. He earned his Ph.D. in the history of science and technol­ogy from Case Western Reserve University in 1999, and was the Tomash Fellow at the University of Minnesota’s Charles Babbage Institute in the 1997–98 academic year.

He also earned an MBA in technology management, an MA in history, and a BA in psychology.

Prof. Bowles is the author of over 10 books, including 3 college textbooks on the history of science, US history, and digital literacy.

He has also written several critically acclaimed books about NASA, such as The Apollo of Aeronautics (2010) and Science in Flux (2006). Both won the prestigious American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics award for best historical manuscript in their respective publication years.

The University of Akron Press has also published his book Chains of Opportunity: The Emergence of the Polymer Age (2008).

Prof. Bowles is the founder of a public history company, Belle History (www.bellehistory.com).

He has been married to his wife, Nancy since 1990. They are raising their three daughters—Isabelle (b. 2000), and twins Emma and Sarah (b. 2009)—on the edge of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in northeast Ohio.
