Finally, for the first time this year, the AHA will have a presentations and open discussions of important topics in the exhibit hall stage. I think this more flexible and potentially informal format has the potential to be a great addition to the regular meeting sessions, so I hope there will be strong turnout this year. In addition to presentations on the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources program, a discussion of recruiting strategies for the undergraduate history major, and recent data from Robert Townsend on career prospects for graduate students, there will be a session with Lendol Calder about the Measuring College Learning project of the Social Science Research Council, and the white paper he and fellow historian Tracy Steffes wrote on the past and future of student learning assessment in history (pdf available).
